PEPEEKEO, Hawaii – A 23 year old male died after he reportedly fell 80 feet while trying to climb down a cliff to the beach in Pepeekeo.

Rescue crews responded to the shoreline access off of Loa Road just before noon on Sunday, where four of the victim’s friends were on the scene and witnessed the fall.

The victim – who had severe traumatic injuries and was in full cardiac arrest – was airlifted out and taken to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
