PAHOA, Hawaii – The lava flow seems to be creeping back to life, after stalling last week. The flow front is not advancing much, however there are a number of breakouts showing increased activity.

The town of Pahoa has been thankful for the delay. Initially, the lava was forecasted to reach the village at around this time. Currently, it is still two and a half miles away.

On Sunday, a Pahoa Pele Party was held at the Island Naturals Store. The event featured top musical acts from Puna, like the Kalapana Awa Band.

The store’s owner is Senator Russell Ruderman. A musician himself, Ruderman joined another band, El Leo, on guitar. Ruderman has stated Island Naturals will remain open as long as it’s safe to do so. He says delivery companies assure him that they will use the emergency access roads and continue to supply the store.
