ABOUT
Imagine waking up every day with an active lava flow right in your backyard.
That’s the reality facing Alfred Lee and his family in recent weeks. Like many residents in Pahoa Village, Lee faces the almost certain destruction of his home should the June 27 lava flow continue to advance downslope, but he isn’t giving up without a fight. Lee made national headlines for building a last minute berm around property.
Since the elements of this video were filmed, the lava front has remained stalled before putting the berm to the test. However, the front has inflated, and is now as high as the berm in many places.
