HAWAII ISLAND – Following Friday’s heavy rain, the Big Island of Hawaii remains under a Flash Flood Watch, which will be in effect throughout the day Saturday.
The National Weather Service says heavy showers and thunderstorms will be possible today from Oahu to the Big Island as an upper level trough remains positioned across the state.
An upper level trough over the state will create instability that will interact with the daytime heating and moisture. Heavy showers and thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding will be possible today as a result.”National Weather Service at 3:34 a.m. HST
Forecasters say with grounds already saturated from Friday’s rains, the potential for flash flooding continues.
A Wind Advisory is also in effect for Big Island summits through tonight.
Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa could see northwest winds 35 to 45 mph and gusts to 55 mph. Driving may become hazardous in high profile vehicles.
