(BIVN) – The Hawaiʻi Fire Department says it is responding to a 300 acre brushfire between Kaʻalualu Bay and South Point Road in the Kaʻū District.

In a Monday morning message from the Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense, visitors and residents were advised “to avoid the area as smoke from the fire may affect visibility and air quality.”
