All families and community friends are invited to come find out about the upcoming worldwide sail of Hokule’a and how to track the first leg of the voyage by the Hikianalia, which is the double hulled canoe escort vessel that is on its way right now to Hawai’i. The presentation will include Navigator Chadd Paishon talking about sailing the Hikianalia from Tahiti to Hilo. Keala Kahuanui will review the Hikianalia website that includes tracking of the escort vessel. There also will be an introduction to a new community-wide Lupe (kite) Making Project in conjunction with the Hokule’a voyage, and Pua Case will review the voyaging chant that is being taught to all students at all Waimea schools as well as the community.

At Kanu o Ka ‘Aina’s kauhale on the back (Mauna Kea side) of Kuhio Village.

5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 25.
